No two Greek weddings look the same. A chapel on a Cycladic cliff asks for something different from a rooftop in Athens or a long table in a village square.
Start with where you are going. Four kinds of Greek wedding, and what to wear to each.
The rules
- Leave white, ivory and cream to the bride.
- Steps, cobblestones, sand: choose flat sandals or a block heel.
- The church is formal. Bring something for your shoulders during the ceremony.
- The party runs until sunrise. Dress for dancing.

A chapel on the cliff
Whitewashed walls, a few hundred steps and a ceremony in the afternoon wind. Think linen, a midi length you will not trip on, and flat sandals.
The Selini midi dress in navy or sunset red, with cord embroidery across the bodice, and Kastelorizo earrings to catch the light.

Barefoot by the sea
Sunset, sand and a reception that ends with shoes in hand. Go long and light, in colours that hold their own against the sea.
The Marina off-shoulder maxi dress, with a rope knot embroidered at the waist, in sky blue or navy and gold. Or the Desis backless dress in sunset yellow.

An evening in Athens
A city wedding starts later and dresses up: a cathedral, a hotel ballroom, a rooftop facing the Acropolis. This is the one for a maxi and real jewellery.
The Niriis one-shoulder maxi dress with its jewelry belt, or the Syros long dress in bordeaux, finished with golden shell buckles and handmade tassels. Add the Greek Column earrings.

A glendi in the square
The church is on the square, the tables run the length of it and the whole village is invited. The grandmothers are watching: keep the shoulders covered, and wear something you can dance in until morning.
The Nausica dress, with soft puffed sleeves and an embroidered belt, in cherry red or navy.
See you on the dance floor.
